Pre-Doctoral Division Course Description
GEND 8077 General Dentistry Clinic:
Approximately 80 percent of the senior year is devoted to hands-on clinical practice the majority of which is taught by faculty from the General Dentistry Predoctoral Division.
Fourth year students enjoy a true General Dentistry program in which patients are treated under the supervision of a single Primary Attending Faculty member.
Each senior dental student has their own dental operatory for the entire academic year eliminating the need to move from place to place to treat patients. Almost all treatment will be carried out in operatory. ( See clinic facilities )
Senior students will receive training in almost all phases of dentistry including:
Endodontics
Pediatric Dentistry
Hospital Dentistry
Periodontics
Implants
Preventive Dentistry
Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Restorative Dentistry
There are many opportunities for senior dental students to provide dental care at off-campus sites either in clinics or in state-of-the-art mobile treatment facilities.
The state of Texas participates in the Western Regional Examining Board along with 9 other states for the purpose of licensing dentists. In 1999 graduates of this school enjoyed a 95% first-time pass and in 2000 a 99% first-time pass on the board.
